With 20 years of experience in merchandising for luxury fashion houses, I have developed a clear understanding of the skill and attention to detail it takes to deliver quality products.
I have always had a deep respect for traditional crafts, valuing the immense knowhow and expertise of the various French ateliers I worked alongside during my career in fashion; couturiers, embroiderers, milliners and button makers. Many of which are centuries old.
When embarking on our own home renovations some years ago, it became evident to me the value I had always carried for great craftsmanship and refined details. This led me to seek out how I could bring these elements into our designs. The passion became even more pronounced when I found it increasingly difficult to match authentic period details common throughout our terrace house in Sydney’s Paddington, being told it wouldn’t be easy to find someone who still had the skills to replicate those details any longer.
So, I set out to learn the somewhat lost art of traditional French and British upholstery methods, finding beauty in age-old techniques, hand-made elements, and the use of time-honoured tools of the trade.
I have an inherent understanding of the fabrics and details that are required to reintroduce a vintage piece of furniture back into modern life. With respect to its heritage, an uncompromised attention to detail and quality finishes, it is possible to produce a piece capable of withstanding the test of time. I often refer to this as “timeless sophistication”.
